WHAT IS THE L.A. SCAVENGER HUNT?
This is an all-day scavenger hunt that covers the greater Los Angeles area and serves as a material goods drive for the Union Rescue Mission, the L.A. Food Bank and the L.A. Burrito Project. Of the 100 items on the Scavenger Hunt list, 40 are material goods for those organizations. Each item is worth certain amount of points. The team with the most points wins the grand prize.
HOW DO I JOIN THE SCAVENGER HUNT?
The L.A. Scavenger Hunt is open to all - doesn't matter what age, what band you listen to, where you hang out or where you work. This is for everyone. But you must sign up to be part of the hunt. You can sign up in advance on this website or you can sign up in person at noon on Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Dodger Stadium Parking Lot (1000 Elysian Park Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90012). You can also sign up at Fingerprints Music, Glass House Records or Origami Vinyl.

Participants are encouraged to form teams of up to five people. Prizes will be given for the most creatively costumed team. If you are part of a team, make sure everyone on your team signs up for the Scavenger Hunt at some point.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Signing up for the hunt costs $10 per person online or in person on Dec. 4.
DO I HAVE TO BE ON A TEAM?
No - you can participate by yourself if you'd like! Or if you can't find teammates, just send us an email at fyffest@gmail.com and we will help you find a team.
HOW DOES THE L.A. SCAVENGER HUNT ACTUALLY WORK?
All teams meet at Dodger Stadium by 2 pm on Saturday, Dec. 4. A list with one hundred items will be distributed. Each item is worth a certain number of points. The team with the most points wins the grand prize. Forty of the items are material goods that the Union Rescue Mission, the L.A. Food Bank and the L.A. Burrito Project need. For example: cans of foods, socks, or dry food like rice and pasta. The other sixty items are what make the Scavenger Hunt so much memorable. They won't be revealed until the day of the event, but you can get some ideas what they might be like elsewhere in the Scavenger Hunt guide. Some of them are ridiculous, but they're all a lot of fun. Teams scatter and scavenge and meet back at Dodger Stadium at 8 pm with all their items. Items and points will be tallied and the winners will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 7, on this site.
WHAT CAN I WIN?
See the prize section on this site for some of the generously donated Scavenger Hunt prizes! Grand prize is a trip to Barcelona to attend Primavera Sound in May 2011, but there are over $10,000 worth of prizes from record labels, clothing lines, publishers and amazing local businesses.
CAN SOMEONE WIN IF THEY JUST BUY LIKE 1,000 CANS OF FOOD?
No - there is a limit to the points you can get per item. Example: each can of food is 2 points with a maximum of 20 points possible. But we are offering a very good prize to the team that brings the most material goods!
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO THE SCAVENGER HUNT?
Enthusiasm! A good attitude! Your best friends! As for the rest - see our equipment guide on page 8 of the Scavenger Hunt pamphlet! And remember to dress up - think of the gangs in the classic movie The Warriors. Get creative and win a special prize. And remember, this is a rain-or-shine event. So be ready for the weather, and bring a jacket or sweater since it will be cold at night.
I DON'T WANT TO DRIVE - CAN I USE MY BIKE?
Definitely. Just make sure that everyone has a messenger bag to carry items. We are keeping everything in L.A. proper so you don't spend too much time on the road.
WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?
The goal of the L.A. Scavenger Hunt is to raise $100,000 in material goods for the Union Rescue Mission, the L.A. Food Bank and the L.A. Burrito Project. With hard work, we feel that we can do this!
WILL THIS REALLY BE THE BEST DAY OF THE YEAR?
Being outdoors with your friends all day on a scavenger hunt is pretty much the best day ever. Don't you think?
